The reality is that it’s incredibly easy to be registered for a sex crime. Lenore Skenazy of Free Range Kids discussed how your child is more likely to be victimized by the registry than by someone on the registry, at a recent conference. There is a load of truth to her claim, and it points to a much larger issue. These registries are punishment, and the lengths of punishment are only bound by the creativity of policymakers. In no way are we saying that sexual wrongdoing isn’t harmful. People who commit sex abuse should be held accountable, but we argue they must also be given a chance at rehabilitation.

This sounds like “War on Sex” just like the “war on drugs” which is the most effective tool for mass incarceration in America. The propaganda through TV shows like “to catch a predator”, Law and Order SVU, and other TV shows and commercials had been a very effective tool to convince the public of the danger. The Sex offender notification is a big problem because it gets into the hands of uneducated, weak-minded individuals and vigilantes & reactionists that like to squeal to the public about the danger so they can be called a hero for warning them of the presence of registrants in the neighborhoods, schools, workplaces, and even when traveling abroad, however they are targeting registrants for deprivation, humiliation, and molestation.
